ELIXIR Biodiversity, Food Security and Pathogens Workshop
On April 20–21, 2026, I joined the ELIXIR Biodiversity, Food Security and Pathogens hybrid workshop. While participating online, I presented the latest updates on FAIRyMAGs, a BFSP-funded project launched in early 2025.
FAIRyMAGs delivers a modular, FAIR-compliant pipeline within the Galaxy platform, featuring six interconnected workflows for generating and analyzing Metagenomics Assembled Genomes (MAGs). The project includes comprehensive training materials (tutorials, learning pathways, test datasets, and expert videos) and has been validated against benchmarks and applied to four real-world microbiome datasets. Additionally, we introduced a machine learning framework to predict memory requirements for metagenomic assembly, optimizing resource allocation and extending the project’s impact beyond Galaxy.

Beyond the presentation, I contributed to discussions on the BFSP 2027–2028 work plan, helping shape the future of this community-driven initiative. For more details, check out the event report on Zenodo.
